I thought about putting it under the glovebox like so many other people, but I've got no room, with all the other stuff I've installed there (latest upgrade was lockpick & power adapters).

How much room is there under the stock storage unit? was this a tight fit, or was there plenty of additional room?

Guess I'll be taking mine apart this weekend to see what I can adapt for me!

Great job!
It seems like a tight fit, but I'm not certain as once you get it all back together you can't tell how much extra room is under there. There is a black sensor (not sure what it is) just in front of the remote that I did loosen up, slide forward, and retighten to give me enough room to place the remote in there cleanly. There is more more space about 10 inches further forward it you needed it for something else (perhaps inverter?).

Great! That is one of the best write-ups I have seen on this forum.

I may not be as technically saavy (or as patient) but I am going to replicate your (and your sons) awesome set-up.

Thanks

Quick question on the cable coming out of the console to connect the handset: any issue with the cable chaffing against the console plastic? Is it a tight fit or can you just put some electricaly tape around the cable to protect it?

BTW--thanks for this write up. I'm getting all my parts now to do this install this holiday!

Very nice install. I really like the hidden external speaker location and finding a hidden place to mount the antenna! Great job!

Either way, looks good - but drilling the $5 piece of plastic was a lot easier in my opinion than tearing apart the center console.
