Default Not getting any sound at all...Help??

Ok so I setup and run all my wiring for this CB and it has been a while but i havnt been able to get everything working. I just put a new antenna on and it is all tuned up. But i dont have any sound at all coming out of the CB. No static or anything. What could this be caused from? The PA works, it turns on... Im lost..

Its mounted off of the stock spare tire carrier

Please help, I want to get this thing working for the weekend.

Your radio should make plenty of noise when you open the squelch, even when you're not receiving a signal. If you close the squelch, then you may set it so high that you won't hear anything. Anyway, turn your squelch knob fully both directions. If that doesn't produce noise, then forget the antenna--the problem is likely in your radio or speaker system. Check the wiring between the two, first. Come back if that doesn't work.

Im getting no noise at all when moving squelch. The speaker is built into the radio. so idk whats going on.

Ive been reading alot of Threads on Cbs and i dont have the antenna grounded anywhere. Could this be a problem? also calibrating it.... Would that stop noise...

I'm sure you meant that he wouldn't hear any radio calls, but regardless of having an antenna or not, with or without good SWR, he should be able to hear "background noise" when the radio is turned on and the squelch is wide open. Good catch on the RF gain control: It's virtually useless on a radio network that restricts RF transmit power to 4-watts, but some people like lots of knobs. LOL.

OP: If you're not getting any kind of audio output at all and you've adjusted all of the controls, it sounds like your radio is defective (Ouch. What a terrible pun).

I just did it and I do. In fact, I still receive the weather broadcast with the antenna disconnected. And I still receive background noise on my Cobra 75 on the CB channels when I open up the squelch. In 27-1/2 years of USAF comm/nav avionics maintenance I never came across a radio that did not generate background noise even with the antenna disconnected, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any out there. I'm still thinking it's a bad radio.
