Questions about Tuffy Overhead Console
Hey guys,
I have a couple questions about the Tuffy Overhead Security Console. I have the the Cobra 29 LX CB and I don't like where I have it mounted down by my leg. It seems to get in the way too much and the way I have it mounted I can't adjust my seat any farther forward in case someone else were to drive.
So I was wondering how people are liking their console and if they have had any issues with it. I really like how it looks from the pictures I have seen. I have a question about installation. It looks like I would need to take off my t-tops but would I need to take off the rest of my hardtop as well? I don't think I would be able to lift off the rear hardtop by myself so if I could get by with just the t-tops then that would be great.

The install isn't bad at all! Once installed, you can take the Freedom Top panels off or take the entire top off. You can find the install instructions here on our website:

You won't need to remove the rear part of the hard top, but you will need to drop the Sound Bar - 6 bolts and a speaker harness - for installation. The instructions will show you all tools you'll need as well, so you can have them ready ahead of time and keep installation time to a minimum. Enjoy!

I have one on order so I can post pics soon as it is installed. I read another review on here that there was a little trimming and a 90 degree coax adapter for the Cobra 29 to fit properly. I have the same CB as you do I'll let you know. Until then search for Tuffy Overhead on here. You'll find plenty of answers.
I have one that I have my scanner mounted in. It works great and the install was pretty easy, although I would recommend having an extra set of hands to help. Sorry, but I don't have any pics here now, but will try to upload one later today. And yes it does hurt when you hit your head on it. Hope this helps.
Thanks guys for confirming the few things I was wondering about. I've read in a few different threads that said I would have to modify a couple things in order to get my CB in there but that doesn't bother me, part of the fun
Whenever you guys get some photos, post them up if you don't mind.
