Received Baofeng UV-3R Dual-band HT today
Man is this thing small or what? I got it this morning and turned it on...LOUD!!!! That's about all I have had a chance to get done with it. I'll get a chance to play with it a little more tonight.

It did come with the CD and programming cable just as advertised. The packaging was sturdy and I didn't notice any damage to it at all.

Well... the first problem with this thing surfaced last night
I installed the drivers for the programming cable and guess what...THEY DIDN'T WORK!!!! I did some poking around and discovered that the cables the sellers are including with these radios are made counterfeited chips and don't play nicely with the drivers. I guess you get what you pay for. I got the cable and drivers for about an extra $5 on the purchase price. If anyone out there decided to buy this radio, just get the radio itself without the cable. It isn't worth the extra $$ you pay. The real cables are available online and there is even a guy who cobbled one together that is said to work. Here's a link...

As for the radio...it seems to work quite well on RX. I don't have my Tech ticket yet so I haven't even attempted to transmit anything because I don't want to get a fine or any other trouble with the Federal Government. I'll take my test mid-April and should have some results by then.
