I love the retractor, it 'flops' the mic around a little bit. Nothing 'crazy', it stays put but pivots on where it is in the picture. Works really well, nice to be able to just let it go and not try to find the clip when on bumpy trails

Mine looks very similar to this. I used some scrap and spray paint. It's easy to bend it to the right position.

Anyway, the actual hand held unit (all in one thing) is still floating around. I am going to go ahead and put the mount in the same place you have it (between the vents). It did not shift around or anything when you were wheeling?

How was the room above the bracket? Does the stereo get in the way, when trying to clip it in and pull it out?

Glad you asked, be sure to put it as high as you can and still get the micout ok, I had it lower at first and I would hit it when shifting in to 3rd. Other wise it is a great location. You know it is really easy to take the vents out to see what is back there, there isn't anything there on my jeep.

Not a CB mic but same concept for my D-STAR-capable ham radio.

I think the best place is thru glove box run it flush on bottom with inside and you only lose 2 - 2 1/2 inches and the best part is it locks with ign key i bought the tuffy over head console it was huge and seemed to much for little cb this is clean and easy only cost is trim for car door cut at length put on ruff hole and slide cb in screw cb to back of glove box and thats it works for me here are some pics
