I was just looking at the specs and says it has a digital SRF and SWR meters, but you can't cant change swr with the radio. SWR has nothing to do with the radio and everything to do with the antenna. You use the SWR meter either in the radio like yours or a separate meter to tune the antenna. I am not a professional but I have run a lot of radio's on many different car's, truck's and motorhomes. Some I have done antenna's on and some had tuned by professional's. The pro's have very expensive testers that you don't need the radio for and they match or tune the antenna to the vechiel and their meters also let you know if you have a grounding problem etc.

That's interesting^... I thought it was the swr that I was calibrating... Maybe it was something else... I forget, I'm new lol. Thanks tho

 

scamp71, before you do anything make sure that you have the connectors at the antenna end in the correct order, click here to see, and that everything is good and tight. It's hard to tell, but I had the cable end (firering) upside down at first and my SWR would not go below 3. Since flipping it over and tightening it down, I now have 1.2 across the board. It's worth a shot just to try flipping it before you go through a bunch of grinding. Hope this helps. It drove me crazy for months till I did this. I have a spare tire bracket set similar to yours.

 

Thanks for the tip. I made sure I was installing the fire ring, spacer, mounting surface, etc. In the correct order as per the instructions. I already ground off the powder coat on the bracket just around the hole and my SWR lowered by about a point across the board. It was getting late so I didn't tune the antenna, but its on my agenda for this evening. Hopefully that will do the trick...

 

The antenna ground was indeed the problem. Got the powder coat sanded off the TF tire carrier bracket and tuned it. Now have 1.1 to 1.3 SWR readings across the entire band Thanks for the help all!
