SWR Meter
Hey everyone, i have been thinking about getting a CB and have been reading alot of threads here. One question i have is do you have to use a SWR meter on ALL CBs or do some CBs have them built in? For example i am aware you need the SWR meter to tune the Cobra 75 but what about the Cobra 19 or even various Uniden CBs.
thanks for your help i have learned alot the past day about CBs

it's not actually the cb, but the antenna that is tuned using the swr meter. if your antenna has provisions for tuning (which most of the better ones do) you will need to use an swr meter to tune it. some cb's do, in fact, have an swr meter built in but they aren't very accurate and should not be used in place of an external swr meter when tuning. i'm not too far away away from you. if you want we can meet up one day and tune your antenna. or you can just get a kit that comes with a meter. i got my uniden pro520xl, an swr meter w/coax jumper, a length of coax, a 4' wilson superflex antenna, and a teraflex tailgate mount all in a kit for about $150. rightchannelradios . com has a lot to choose from and they were great to deal with

i mounted mine on the dash below the steering wheel. i don't have my tuffy console yet so i wanted it to be removable. all i need to do is unplug the spade connectors i put in the power lines and unplug the coax and my radio is out. it's a great location when i have it in there and when i take it out all i have is a metal bracket that has no value to the scum walking down the street. i don't see a need for a cb 90?% of the time anyway
