Teraflex CB mount w/firestick
Hello all,
I have a Teraflex CB mount with a 4' firestick that I just installed. The firestick is against the spare tire (Stock Rubi tires/wheels). Is this something I should worry about? I dont have any pics, it was too dark.
Also....when I turn the CB on, there seems to be nobody out there, what channel should I use to test? And is there a "Jeep" channel?
Thanks

channel 19 is the truckers channel.
also be sure and go to get your CB peaked and tuned at a CB shop. also tune your antenna.... it'll not only bring your cb to life but it's bad for your cb to not be tuned correctly with the antenna.

why not keep the swr meter? i keep it in my glove box and have 3 of them including a astatic meter with power, swr, and modulation meter. this is a excellent tool and a must have for a radio. bend the tip on some branches and you NEED to check your swrs. this is the #1 killer of radios!

And no, there is no "Jeep Channel", but you can always set your CB to scan and hit the road!
Addressing your original question: no, thats nothing to worry about. I had that exact same setup and other than pissing me off, theres nothing wrong with the antenna being up against the tire. What I did to remedy this was to actually mount the teraflex mount upside down on the driver side. It lowered the antenna down below the roof line as a bonus (which I needed at the time). Since the soft and hard tops are not metal, having the antenna below the roof line isn't an issue.

As far as a scan, well, my radio old, so to scan, I turn the knob.
i tell ya what... once you do get it all setup you should love it... i take mine outta the jeep and run it in the company truck when i am not wheelin.. it is sooo much better than any radar detector and you can't get a ticket for it!
those truckers are helpful ppl when it comes to the black and whites.. i was on mile marker 60 still hearing about the cops sitting under a bridge at mile marker 38.

OK, I think I may have found a problem with my install.
The TF mount is powder coated, so it does not provide and graound at all. So.....I need to ground my antenna. How and where is the best way to ground it? Pics or links to pics would be great.
Thanks.

I also grounded my antenna, but I still hear nothing?
I will try it again on the way to work tomorrow.
Thanks.
