Teraflex CB mount w/firestick
No I didn't have any issues with it banging against my tire. As was mentioned, I would grind off the powder coat around where the bolts mount on the bottom side. Also, you should seriously consider getting a gounding strap for your tailgate. Once I added a ground strap to my tailgate I was actually able to hear and trasmit.

I sent TF pictures and data about their incorrect angle months ago. I tried to bend mine and found it had stress fractured during manufacturing. As the powder coat was put over top of rusted cracks. I would have thought they got this fixed by now. The plate material is the cheapest crap metal you could buy. I was shocked. I ended up breaking the rest of the way off and welding it at the the correct angle. Then I painted it with black epoxy paint. Now it is correct and they sent me a spare for my trouble. I was afraid to try it since I made mine perfectly even spacing between the tire and the rear wiper. Why would you continue to sell a defective product?

[QUOTE=freeswimmingfish;327541]I like this idea....so, who in Houston would like to meet me with a meter? I might just go to the CB shop I got the antenna from.
Yo Fish - I also went the midland install route, but used the ultramount for the antenna (4' firestik). I'm receiving on ch 19 without difficulty. I live about 2 miles from a truckstop off I-55/70, so the chatter is non-stop. I have not transmitted yet as the radio is not tuned. I bought a SWR via ebay ($32 shipped). Once the radio is tuned, I'm heading to the truckstop to get a retractable mic holder. You and I have discussed the mic holder on a separate thread.
I also installed my Valentine 1 next to the CB. I used the visor clip (removed the clip) and screwed the housing into the center trim panel, then ran the wires along with the CB wires.
I'll post some pics later. I'll also let you know how it goes with the SWR.

Hey Chicky,
Glad yours is working....What is a Valentine 1?
Mine still is not working. I grounded the antenna last night, still quiet. I drove in this morning with several trucks, nothing. I transmitted on ch 19 with no responce. I changed to other ch as well, I hear nothing at all. efor I grounded it, I could hear some chatter, now I hear nothing at all?
I will try to ground my tailgate and grind some of the powder coating off the mount to see if it helps.

Valentine 1 is a radar detector.
When you're on ch 19 with trucks around, can you see the lights on the meter flickering? You should see your signal strength meter flashing. This will let you know that there are others around you transmitting. The dials on the far right of the CB are for squelch and gain. Turn your squelch all the way down (ccw until it pegs) you should hear talking or at least a loud static hiss.

On a differant note, I put a pic in this thread, it shows my Tri bike:

I will go by the CB shop on the way home to get some help....
Dude - nice set up on the JK and the bike. That's a sweet whip with a killer paint job. My Madone was a trek project one build up, orange and white flame pattern. I think I have a pic of it in action somewhere on my computer...yep. That race was my last tri, 1/2 iron in 2005. I guess it's time to get out the rollers and hit the basement. The bike still looks as good as it did in the pic. Sorry to ramble. I hope you get the CB woes worked out. I haven't clicked on my stereo since I put mine in. Its' too much fun listening to the truckers. The radar detector is almost useless as I hear about state patrol way before the detector starts to beep. Redundancy can't hurt though.

Ever take it off any cool jumps?
If I didnt have to buy road and tri bikes for me and wifey, I would have a Madone or two as well!!!
I had a good laugh when I opened your pic, you dont look much like a Chicky...
My wife did a 1/2 Ironman in Oct, came in 1st in her age group.
My Ironman will be interesting....not looking for a podium, just a finish.
Next time you are in Texas, let me know, we can go wheelin after a race!!
