Sure from what my dealer told me and my understanding for the Uconnect to work they have to add a module and possibly change the S/W for this feature to work with bluetooth. Now whether this module is a mic or a different rear view mirror or just an add on behind the radio itself I have no idea. But If I haven't heard from them by Wednesday of this coming week I will drop by and see if I can get more info.

 

I was told by a sales person that the uconnect moduel is a $499 purchase.

 

That's about the price of the Mirror Mount version. THe other was should be about $250. I wouldn't mind the mirror one since it gives up back the auto-glare, compass/temp and map lights. I still think it was incredibly cheap of them to put a $2 mirror in the Sahara/Rubicon editions.

 

I talked to my dealer last week and he said that Uconnect would not be available fo the JK. Where are the mic mounts? If the mirror is the only place, then I'd probably pass on it. I haven't driven with the soft top on yet, but I would think that all the noise would make it useless. It also seems like you wouldn't be able to use it with the top down due to wind.

 

Great, so I gave up my random play (can anybody tell I like that feature LOL ) to have 2 U-Connect buttons for a service I won't be able to get.

Maybe the unit will be able to add an aftermarket doohickey through Crutchfield that will let us use a remote that has a random option.

Or how about a flash-Rom update that replaces UConnect buttons with Random buttons

 

After xmas, if its still not resolved .. I'll buy the parts and try it. I still don't buy for a minute it won't work. The radio is the same, down to the part number, and no one has been able to tell me the U-Connect interfaces with anything other than the radio, so I don't see how it won't work.

 

Check out the dodge Nitro online. It has a mygig with uconnect, rear screen, audio.video connectors and steering wheel controls. I am thinking about the mygig and ordering the Nitro parts to go with it.

 

I know you had tried ordering some time back.

 

Is the U-connect feature supposed to be available on ALL the JK radios, or just the 6-disc and the Mygig?
