Yaesu FT-7900R and Comit CA-2x4SR?
+1 on that.
You forgot to mention that he has a Jeep, too.
Hmmm...makes me think of something....shoot, move, communicate...I've heard that before...somewhere
The cupholder mount looks like the position is great, but I use my cupholders more often than not. I like my espresso too much to give it up if there's a reasonable alternative.

I love my radio! Biggest complaint is I wish it could talk on AM. Im a pilot at an Aviation School and it would be nice if i could talk to my buddies while im out!
The radio it self is mounted under the passenger seat. Its attached directly to the bottom of the seat to keep it off the floor where it might get kicked or water could hit it. The display is mounted to the plastic thing in front of the stick using 2 more 90 degree brackets and then screwed into the mount that came with the radio.

The full Set up.

Took a 90 degree wood brace bracket and bent it. It had 4 holes already drilled though it. just attached the mic bracket and then screwed it into the console. It doesn't look the best on its own but it does the job and nobody notices when the mics there.

Got the same radio and this was my mounting solution.
I had the daystar upper dash board modification so that's where I installed the faceplate, the remote wire goes through the back of the dashboard and into the main unit which I located under the passenger’s seat.

I did my Icom's about the same with the daystar top panel, worked great. The second remote head I attached the bracket to the panel in front of the shifter.

What I didn't post a pic of was the remote speakers which are both mounted to the roll bar between passenger and driver - which works great and is extremely easy to hear during a mission.
So far, I'm really happy with this set up. Now working on a dual band head unit with APRS (actually working on a DPRS solution so I can stick with ICOM, they're located here in Bellevue and are amazing quality...).

The OP of that one did it himself. You could email and ask the procedure. It isn't in any of the posts.
For any rig just go to Google, and search "MARS mod FT-8900" or just "mod FT-8900".
The first post put the idea in my head to paint the knob markings. I am also considering changing the faceplate LEDs to green to match everything else on the dash. I might have the local store do the LEDs though. I don't have a Miniature/MicroMiniature soldering station at the house.
