Default 07 Sahara engine light, no code?

For about a year now, my engine light + "gas cap" has been on the dash. Ive tried to replace the caps and clean around with no luck. Nothing seems to be wrong with the Jeep. Read the codes and just came back as "gascap". Finally unplugged the battery to reset and then engine light came back on with no gascap light anymore... but there is no codes to read now.. if anyone has any ideas before I take it in, would be greatly appreciated

You need a more advanced way to read the codes. Sometimes a superchips will read the codes where turning the key won't produce anything.

I have the same issue with my 2011 JKU. Originally i had the evap major and minor leak. Replaced the evap canister ($39.99 from O'Reilly's) and still had the gas cap light. I have tried putting Petroleum Jelly on the gas cap oring. My next part in the parts cannon will be a new Drake gas cap. Once I replace that and still have the gas cap light I am going to take it to a buddy who has a smoke machine and see what we come up with. I will keep you posted.
