Default 2008 X Infinity vs 2011 Sport Infinity

Hey guys _ I just picked up my new '11 JK Sport last night. It's replacing an '08 X (S package) that's up on lease. Both vehicles have the Infinity sound system, though the 08 has the REQ head unit (6 disc) while the 11 has an RES (single cd). REQ wasn't available as an option, though I'm fine with just one CD.
The difference in sound between the two is unbelievable. My 08 sounds so much better than my 11. I even set the two side by side, same station, same bass settings, etc, and was shocked at how much better my old Jeep sounds.
I took it into service this morning - they indicated that all items are in good working order and that the likely reason I notice a difference is because of REQ vs RES. Whole thing sounds fishy and am frankly quite disappointed. I'll likely end up going out to a stereo shop and upgrading the system.
Has anyone else noticed this sort of sound system change between older JKs and newer JKs?
PS- My fault for selecting the option without listening first - I thought 368W Infinity was 368W Infinity.

I'm interested in this too. I have the single CD system with infinity and I do not think it is a big difference from my prior '08 jk which had the standard system without infinity.

yeah! Exactly! I'm fortunate to be able to travel to hawaii each year to visit family and I always rent a Jeep - stock sound system in those - that's what this 11 sounds like to me.

Been doing some more reading around the forum and it could be that the Nitro Amp will solve my issues. My 08 amp must be the Nitro amp and that what I'm used to. I even have the popping with certain CDs. Looks like Nitro Amp to the rescue for my new 11.

I'm not too handy with stereo systems and I'm afraid to take it to the dealer since I dont want them to flash it. Has anyone ever used best buy to install an amp - or is it relatively easy?

I had the single disk system in my '08 and also in my '11. The sound is similar but the reception on the 11 is worse! Funny thing is my 08's head unit had the info button and the 11 rubi doesn't ! How cheap is that!?!?

I've heard people talk about break-in periods for subs. Wonder if it's true for all speakers? Just a thought.

Just to update - I pulled the amp out of my 08 and plugged it into my 11 - wow, what a difference! The 11 sounds just like the 08 now.
