no need to debate it...have em replace everything they scratched "period"..don't think about it...don't try to shrug it off as if they didn't mean it it's ok.... it's a new vehicle..it's your vehicle if you scratch it that's ok...when someone else does it.
btw sorry about your electrical woes... I think you'll be fine though

Default Electrical Issues

We've had our 2007 JK Unlimited since November 2006. We purchased it with as little electrical add ons as possible but still had the radio issue. The battery went dead after nearly 4 years. It's lifted, runs 35's with 4.88's, has a few rock chips in the paint. All in all, it's not enough to cause regrets. It's been the most fun ever in transportation. I also have a 2008 2 door that has suffered the failing of headlights. Still no regrets. I want a 2011 badly. Given the financial opportunity, I'll probably buy one. It will be my 5th. You only live once.

My steering controls went dead on the way to work when it was dark one morning, I noticed they weren't lit up and tried a button and sure enough they were dead so I started thinking what my buddy told me about Chrysler's with steering controls, he works at the dealership and he said when they get one in with this issue they smack the steering wheel with their hand once and it all comes back on, so I promptly tired it since I had nothing to loose and it worked.. it came on and has worked since.

He told me the multi contact hub has a lot of grease on it when they build it and will loose contact and the smack brings it back, makes sense.. he also said it normally happens within the first month or two and once its broke in it never happens again.

Guess we'll see.

Default Complain man

Hey Bill2K,

Not trying to bust your chops here but I'd complain big time about the steering wheel damage if it was mine. Honestly, there is very little about the '11 interior that I like personally except for the steering wheel (and the tray in the back for the roof screw storage). Anyhow, if it were my steering wheel in my new Jeep, they'd be replacing it that's for damn sure.

Good luck with your warranty work and Jeep. Try the wacking of the steering wheel tip mentioned above too if it happens again, it would certainly be worth a try.

B.S.

LOL that's exactly what I had to do too. Worked for me. Haven't had it act up since.

I purchased my 2011 on Saturday and had this same problem last night. I was driving home at night and tried to turn the station with the radio control behind the steering wheel and noticed it didn't work.......none of the controls on the steering wheel worked (seek, volume, cruise control). I got home and turned off the Jeep and turned it right back on and it still wasn't working. I let it sit for a minute or two and started it back up.....fortunately everything worked. I'm going to the dealer on Friday to have a sticker removed and will tell them about the steering wheel control issue.
