2011 JK electrical issue...
Just thought I'd let you folks know, I recently bought a 2011 JK. Its about 3 weeks old and I only have about 500 miles on it. Well today I try to unlock the JK with the key fob. Nothing happens. Try again. Nothing happens...ooookkkkaaayyyy. Manually unlock the door and the panic alarm goes off. Click the key fob unlock again. boom, alarm shuts off. So then I start the JK and try to turn up the radio with the steering wheel controls. Nothing. Try to change the station. Nothing. Try to go through the menus. Nothing. ****. I turn off the JK, then start it again, and try the steering wheel controls. NOTHING. Point of all this is that I am taking it in ASAP to have it looked at, but I just wanted to give people a heads up about this problem considering the steering wheel controls are a new feature on the 2011. I will update as soon as the JK gets diagnosed. Hopefully its just a fuse and not faulty wiring.

Haha. I hope so too. Funny thing is that right before I bought the 2011 I almost bought a 2009 Rubi because I wasn't sure about 2011 first year interior changes. I ended up going with the 2011 because I decided the differences were significant enough in the design to warrant any typical "first year beta testing" fear.
I just bought a silver 2010 2 door.. it was sure tempting to wait for the welcomed 2011 interior changes.. but having already lemon lawed one JK for electrical issues i decided to get the 2010 instead and wait a year for the 2012's to get my new interior changes..
I Love beta testing gadgets.. but not when I rely on the "gadget" as my transportation to and from work.. or as my way home on a Dark country road when its negative 15 degrees outside...

Not sure if this applies to this situation or Jeeps at all. The car alarm could have something to do with it, i have had the same experience with a Jetta that i reached in to unlock the doors through an open window and the alarm went off and once i turned it off and started it up the radio did not work at all. I think its a safety feature to deter people from stealing radios ?? Took it to the dealer and they reset something and fixed it, Might Help.

Well I disconnected the battery for 20mins...When I started it the steering wheel controls worked again
I am still taking it to the dealership on Mon. so they can document me bringing it in for the problem just in case it does it again or there are future problems. So for anyone who buys a 2011 and the steering wheel controls stop working. Disconnect your battery, reconnect, and you should be GTG.

It's pathetic and sad that you or anyone should have to "disconnect the battery for 20 min" every now and then to keep your rig running like it's supposed to.
I bought my new JK 6 weeks or so ago and have been concerned that some of the quality issues with chrysler/jeep products would rear their head and have me put her in the shop for warranty work. So far I've had no issues, zero.....knock on wood.
Of course I scrambled to find the right 2010 after I saw the '11's. So maybe after 4 years or so Chrysler/Jeep got the bugs out of the 7-10 JK. I suspect the interior changes have released a new group of bugs to contend with.
Sorry to hear about the trouble, but congrats on your purchase and ENJOY it!

Agreed. Well I got the JK back from the dealership today. They were unable to replicate the issue. They ordered a new harness and wiring to have on standby if it were to happen again. I guess I just drive it till it breaks
. The dealership did manage to beat up my steering wheel pretty good. They left marks and deep scratches everywhere on it. I am debating whether I should just go with it or complain...
