2011 Uconnect SW update info
Hello,
In response to a PM that I received today from a member:
I know that I have this information in several threads, but I can't remember which ones. So I'm going to start a thread with the update title.
This is the update that has been out since June of 2011. It's for 2011 vehicles that were built prior to 6-1-2011 and have the Mitsubishi radios (RES, REQ, RBZ & RHB) ONLY. It is not for the Harman radios (RER, RHR).
This update will fix the "error occurred" that is displayed when connecting an iPod or Iphone to the docking cable. It will also fix the choppy audio when streaming audio thru BT.
Here are the instructions: Make sure that you DO NOT have any power interuptions during the update, for best results have the motor running so there are no interuptions).
You will need at least a 2 GB thumb drive. If you have files on the thumb drive, please delete them and format the drive (to FAT32) just to make sure that it is completely clean.
Download it to the thumb drive that has no other files on it. Turn the radio on, Place the thumb drive in the center console USB connector (on vehicles with the dealer installed unit, it should be in the glove box), press and hold the Uconnect button for about 12 - 15 seconds, you should here "update started". This process should take about 15 - 20 minutes, there will be some beeps during the process. Please listen during the update for any error message that may be said by Uconnect. When the update is completed, the radio screen will go back to a radio display. Turn the ignition off, open & close the drivers door. Wait about 1 minute, then turn the key on and test the system.

The usual stuff slow clock, streaming music stuttering. I would love to get the text SMS working. I have an iPhone 5
I do know the Dealer is replacing an actual hardware part to help with the clock. I asked about software updates when I went in but they decided to order hardware to fix the clock under warranty. I will get it installed tomorrow so I will be able to update you as to what the actual part was.

1) The build date will be on a white sticker on the drivers door. Look for MDH code. It was probably built after 6-2012, if that's the case then the SW is current.
2) The streaming audio stutter is due to the iPhone dropping packets when sending them to Uconnect. One thing that can also cause issues is if you have Wi-Fi turned on. I don't think that it's that big of a deal, I have the 4S & the 5 both and it's such a random thing that I just accept it. As with most things that work thru the air, they have to be able to accept interference, desirable or not. This happens with Android devices also just not as much.
3) The issue with receiving SMS messages with the iPhone is another issue that happens because of how Apple has decided to do things differently than others. They support MAP (message access profile) partially and not the same as other phone mfg's. The problem is that the BT specs are loosely written which allows SW developers to interpret them differently depending on who's interpreting them. The specs need to tighten up in order for everything to be equal on how things work.

Not sure of Build Date I know the dealer received the Jeep 7/2013. Where do I find the build date?

I came across this after having some nagging issues with my bluetooth and iPhone 5 iOS7.0.2. (but it was doing this before the update to iOS7). Sporadically it is dropping calls and takes a while to connect when initially starting car. I will be connected either talking on the phone or listening to music and it will drop connection, then reconnect, then drop connection again. When audio streaming, it drops sound at least once a minute. As you have previously suggested, I have tried turning off WiFi, hard restart. No change. Any ideas?
I have a 2012 JGC RHB/430N. MFR date: April 2012
I just downloaded the ISO for the SW update to v50. But wanted to see if there was a uConnect update. I came across this thread. Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks.
