Default 2012 wrangler Rubicon unlimited question ?

So I bought a 2012 rubicon unlimited. my question is on the stereo, when i bought the jeep the window sticker said premium stereo.. " my thoughts were it must be the best they put in jeeps stock" it does come with the navi and infinity stock sub.. but why do I have alpine speakers ?? I feel like they just mixed and matched what they had at the time... Anyone know why this is ??

No i don't mind at all.. I know alpine and infinity are vary good companies when it comes to sound.. I just thought it would be either all infinity or all alpine not mix together.. i have alpine speakers and a infinity sub?? I Didn't think this was normal I have never had a car come with speakers from one company and subs from another..

They switched to Alpine at the very end of the 2012 production run. Was Infinity up to that point.

Although Alpine and Infinity both make very nice mobile stereo components, the Jeep "premium" systems are not thier good stuff. Although better than the basic stereo option, they are mediocre systems and nothing like the quality you'd get if you went to a stereo shop and outfitted your Jeep with all Alpine or Infinity gear.

And yes, my understanding is that with Alpine going into the 2013s, they switched over late since the supply of Infinity products rans out.

Yeah I saw that they switched manufactures and was wondering if there is any noticeable sound difference.
I might have to go to the dealer and compare just cause I'm curious.

I listened to both the Infinity and Alpine systems recently and couldn't tell the difference between them. Neither are great, but both are much better than the base system.

I'm looking to upgrade mine . I might go with the drop in kickers or Boston acoustics. Has anyone taken the stock alipine speakers out to see the quality ?
