Default 2015 9 Speaker Alpine Premium

Anyone out there have opinions on the new premium audio package for 2015? I'm planning on ordering a bare bones C package but thinking about the upgrade.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

It is worth it. The bare bones system without sub sounds awful. I just picked up a '15 JKUR with the Alpine and it sounds better than the previous Infinity system they offered. The sub is now built into the floor of the cargo area, as opposed to sitting on the side, and is supposed to be waterproof. Also, the tweeters are flush mount instead of the tombstones. I plan on replacing the head unit with an aftermarket touchscreen that will allow more audio control to the speakers.

I have the Alpine system as well. It's a decent system. The bass isn't going to blow your mind, but it's not bad either. The rest of the system sounds good, and I like that they flattened the tweeters in the front instead of having those tombstone's. Also, the sub placement in the back is nice.

The stock head unit (730N) seems like it's running software from the early 2000's. Chrysler definitely needs to redesign the UI and make it a little more user friendly. I'm honestly surprised they haven't considering all of the other major companies having significantly better UI's on their head units.

Let me state I do not know what the upgraded sound system sounds like. You will probably not be happy with the head unit and want to replace it so why pay for an upgraded one. You can upgrade the speakers and place a nice sounding subwoofer in yourself and probably be happier with it than the upgraded sound system. I followed Matt11 and placed subwoofers under the front seats. They sound good even with the top off and I have no fear of someone stealing them from there. It comes down to what you want out of your sound system and how much you want to spend. Read the threads on upgrading your sound system yourself and I believe you will not pay for the factory upgrade.

Just to update this. I went with the premium audio and I couldn't be happier.

My hopes were that it would at least sound as good as the 9 speaker boston acoustic setup in my wife's Patriot.

It exceeded this hope. It was much better with the hardtop compared to the patriot. After I removed the hardtop I did lose some bass but it still sounds great.

All that really matters is that you are happy with your choice. I have not listened to the upgraded sound system and it sounds like you are pleased with it.

I just purchased my Jeep w/ the Alpine system. I've had an Acura, 4runner, and BMW with their top premium systems and I'd say this is every bit as good, if not better!

The new 9 speaker system sounds amazing.

Jeeps will always have sound issues due to the lack of sound insulation in body and roof. The new system will be very good for most people, the sound guys will never be fully happy with an OEM stereo.
