Interesting. I am using a 64 gig iTouch and it charges fine with that cable. I don't get it. I have had TWO different iTouchs on that cable and they both were charged fine. The one with 4.0 software didn't WORK correctly but it still charged. The 3.1.3. software works fine. If you have 3.1.3 software in an iTouch and you want it to continue to work with the uConnect, DON'T update the software. Apple has a bug.

The older iPod cable has +12V on the firewire pins, older iPods used to support charging from either firewire or USB.
The newer iPod cable has +5V on the USB pins. When Apple released the iPhone 3G they removed the Firewire circuitry and probably did the same thing to their line of iPods are the same time.

You should be able to find the two different part numbers for the iPod uConnect cable listed somewhere on here. Another option is to get a charge adapter which converts the +12 V to +5V. This is what I did because the new cable wasn't available when I got my iPhone 3G

If he has a third generation iPod Touch as he says, I see no reason why that won't charge with the new cable. That's EXACTLY what I have and it charges fine from that cable.....

I just had the Uconnect module PN: 82211878 installed and programmed in.
The kit works fine and my phone is paired.

The Problem:

I installed the ipod cable in the back of the Uconnect module and it will charge and when I navigate to music it says "Accessory Connected".....but I cannot get the RES to play anything from it. Also, the voice does not give accessory or ipod as an option.

The only thing I can think of is that this is an old RES I had laying around from my old 2007 JK, are the old ones not supported?

Mine is a 2010 and works fine. I have heard that some of the early 2007 RES units would not work but I don't have any more information than that. Hopefully someone else might have more info.

on the radio itself you should be able to press the disc/ aux button until you see UCI on the radio screen.. and then if you press LIST button on thje radio you can cycle through your playlists... you will not need to touch the ipod itself..

pressing the u-connect buttons on the radio gets you to the phone modes but not the ipod

Ok Thanks, must be the old radio. It was from an early 07 build.

The DISC button only gives me the CD and the AUX button just says "not connected".

Incidentally when I press the "setup" button is only sets the clock and the list button does nothing,...a little odd.

Does anyone out there have an spare RES or REQ radio?

Matt

Hi, Matt - I'm experiencing the exact scenario you describe as well. Did you ever find a resolution to it?

Thanks!
