On some installs that may be problematic unless the wire size is increased--on anything that draws lots of current. For example, a set of KC Daylighters would be brighter if the wire for them was minimum run/maximum size. Also, a refrigerator doesn't draw much current (about 1-1/2 amps typically), but they are very voltage sensitive, shutting down usually in the low 11s to save the battery for starting the vehicle. A long run to the back of the Jeep causes quite a bit of voltage drop, which is why the fridge manufacturers recommend 12 GA wire or so. Minimize voltage drop, maximize the time the fridge will run off the battery alone.
Yes, always use a wire that is the right gauge for what you will be installing. As long as you're using the proper gauge wire it should never be a problem. Doing this only adds a few inches to 12"'s to a wire run. You won't start to see voltage drop in wiring run in a car unless you a using the wrong gauge wire. Braiding the wire together doesn't damage or shrink the conductor size at all. Doing this with the power and ground together will also reduce the EMI the line will produce.

I also went a step further and added a complete fuse relay box. Doing this keep the entire system separate front he rest of the jeep.

I use the unused available switched circuit in the main fuse box to switch a secondary relay to turn the whole system on.

5 - Sizes of heat shrink tubing - I prefer adhesive lined heat shrink. You should be looking to get the 4:1 shrinking or more. This will allow you space to do what you need to do while still shrinking down around the wiring to form a water tight seal.
