Default Amp install in stock Infinity amp location question

I have read the threads on here about mounting an in the stock location. This has inspired me to install my new PDX-5 under the steering wheel. I did not have the stock amp. If anyone has installed an amp there, are there any hints for mounting? Such as materials used to make a bracket, etc.

I shoved the AMP up there ... and used some wire to hold it in. Ain't pretty ... but it ain't going anywhere and you can't see it anyway ...

Heh, whatever works. I just worry about how it would affect the steering linkage or the pedals.

Thanks, I had not seen that one. Once I get that amp installed, it's time to determine subwoofer.

Well, for any interested, I chickened out on under the dash. It sat at too weird of an angle, and looked as if it would be a pain if I had to do anything to it. I ended up installing in the rear storage section. I did find an excellent deal on a Boston Acoustic subwoofer with enclosure and tuned passive radiator. $200 for this:

I now have all Boston speakers and the Alpine PDX-5. The tweeters for the front set fit in the stock location with very little modification, and they sit flush. I am also using a Pioneer HU. I must say, that even being such a sonically challenged vehicle, it sounds amazing (if don't count the horrid front stage and imaging)! If anyone is looking for good sub, this one is an excellent choice. I have done car audio for 18 years, and this has been one of the best sounding prepackaged setups I have ever heard. It also does not take up much room and can be removed easily when space is needed.

The passive crossover from a JL Audio component set and a JL Audio Clean Sweep both mounted to the plate the stock amp is mounted on.

WTF, I'm trying to install a PDX-5 RIGHT NOW... and I CANNOT get it to fit under the dash in my 2 door 09 AT all! I took out the stock amp and bracket, and it just WILL NOT fit under there.

Besides, it comes VERY close to the pedals and steering column. I'm not very happy at the moment.

That was my same impression. It would "fit". But barely, and aside from being tough for adjustment. It also looked as if it could interfere with pedals and or steering.

Yeah and I have NO idea how you'd get 4 guage power and ground, plus 6 channels of RCA and 6 speakers hooked up in there... I really couldn't even get it far enough up to fit at all... I wonder if automatic vs. standard makes a diff (I have a manual).
