Anyone install a tweeter in the soundbar? Any advantage?

I also have a JL tweeter in the stock tweeter pod. Much improved!

btw what JL component is that? did you add a sub as well? I was hoping to do 2 pairs of high end components and get a full enough sound that adding a sub wouldnt be necessary.

They're JL Audio C5-650's (2 sets). If you listen to music at reasonable levels, then these speakers should supply decent bass. If you need to "feel" the music, a sub would probably be necessary.

I'm still planning on adding a JL HD900/5 and a small JL sub (probably 8") to add some punch, but I don't want to announce my arrival 5 minutes before I get there, if you know what I mean.

Not a huge fan of tweeters in the soundbar just because it is too close to my head. Getting a 3way speaker in the front speaker pod is a much better option and stay with a 2way in the soundbar.

The JL's have an adjustment on the crossover to soften the sound of the tweeters by 3dB. There isn't the harshness you'd expect having a tweeter so close to your head.

Proper equalization also helps a lot.

that's a great JL. Ive seen that people have put 2 or 3 ways in the front, however with the additional tweeters on dash, i think the highs would overpower everything else.

That was my thought as well. Guess maybe the idea would be to take out the dash tweeters and just go with the soundbar location. With the top off I have always had problems with low end sound, not the highs.

Default Jeep soundbar tweeters

Did you have to modify the soundbar at all? Also, how are you powering the tweeters? I have an Alpine PDX-5 powering my 4 speakers and sub. I'm thinking I can just power the tweeters off my Aplime UTE-62BT headunit.

Here's a couple of pictures:

The tweeters can also be aimed for optimum fine tuning of the sound.
