How will the reception be if I cut down my stock attenna?

I bought a black stubbie antenna. Was only like $10 on ebay. Didn't think you could cut one down and still work.

You can pop the ball off the top of the antenna and reattach it after cutting down to 8-10".

Signal will be 98% of long antenna.

I used a pair of pliers and snipped the antenna, then slid the pliers hard down the shaft and popped off the ball. Got a dab of glue on tip, then stuck the ball on shortened stick.

Reception is just fine if you put on the ball on the tip. It won't be as good if you forget to put the ball tip back on, just warning.

I cut mine with a dremal to about 10 inches and rounded it off instead of reattaching the ball. Seems the reception is about the same.
