Which Benchmark Dual Battery Kit Do I Need???
www.benchmarkdesigns.com
I was looking at the (Stage 2 Kit = $299.00) and the (Stage 3 Kit = $399.00)
I don't really know much about electric stuff but I feel like the $399.00 is spending $100.00 extra controlling something that I don't really need to since I will have two batteries.
I plan to buy one of the kits and add 2 DieHard Platinum batteries.
(Just waiting for the price to come back down since last week I saw they were $315.00 for the pair and this week it would be $400.00 for the pair)

You'll be happy with either package.
The Stage 2 requires installing a wiring harness. Takes about an hour and requires some basic electrical knowledge. Not hard though.
Stage 3 runs independently and doesn't require the wiring harness. It also adds features like prioritized charging and standalone smart control.
You really can't go wrong with either kit. We assemble the kits to be as turn-key as possible to make installation a snap.
Let me know if there's any questions I can answer.

I have that kit, I wanted the smart isolator option, but there were some backorder and email issues that kept me from getting it and I asked for a refund.
As long as Benchmark has them in stock, I would get the whole set-up.
I'm trying to convince my wife to give Benchmark another shot... I need the isolator.

Shoot me your contact info. I'll send you the Smart Isolator and we'll take care of the payment once you've got it installed and are happy with it.
Our backorders have been our biggest challenge and I'm working on repairing our image from those issues.
Id like to get your duall batt setup as its COLD here in the winter and every CCA i can get helps. I have a few q's.
Will your tray run red tops?
Is there a "boost" option if one battery just aint cuttin it?
Is there somewhere I can read more details? Your website doesnt have any info on these kits.

The kit definitely works with Optima Red Tops - have you checked out the Yellow Tops? They offer deep cycling functionality which is great for running accessories.
Stage 3 has a "boost" feature that you can attach to a momentary rocker switch for extra cranking power.
We're working on improving the website, it's definitely a work in progress. Let me know if there are any other specific questions I can help with as well.
Thanks!
John @ Benchmark
I recently installed the Stage 3 kit from Benchmark-Designs
. John was great to work with
. He quickly answered a question I had while I was doing the installation. The kit is great! It fits perfectly and works perfectly. There are three wires that come out the back of the Smart Isolator. A black wire that needs to be run to a ground. Then there is a purple Boost wire that can be run to momentary switch to temporarily gang both both batteries together. I checked with John and did something different. I ran the purple wire to the starter solenoid. By doing that I automatically, albeit temporarily, gang the batteries together every time I start my Jeep. The final wore is a white wire and it can be run into the dash where you can put a small LED to display when the batteries are ganged together.
The Benchmark-Designs kit works GREAT. I also love the look. I am using a pair of Odyssey batteries. I have a windshield mounted switchbank connected to the auxiliary battery. It works incredibly well.
I believe you will be very satisfied with the Stage 3 kit and you will find John to be a great guy to work with.
