the blinding blue light
Even at their dimmest, the dashboard lights are still too bright for me.
I'll second the electrical tape. I keep a roll in my work Jeep to I can tape over the clock/radio lights and the odometer when I am sitting blacked out. I have done it multiple times and any residue left by the tape is easily wiped off.

I'm surprised you guys have found any use for those high beams.... mine are dimmer than the regular headlights-- just aimed a tad higher. I have yet to find an instance where they've been helpful....
i did not think any switch can adjust the dash indicator lights b/c they are fixed bulbs and not on a dimmer. Black electrical tape work well if you know you will be using them alot or on a long road trip. There is not any adhesive left behind as long as it is not old or has not been left in the sun.
Ditto - the high beam indicator is intensity-independent of the other displays... this isn't particularly helpful for easing into your natural "night vision" when high beams are necessary. I guess you could go with a low-tech fix and just throw some black electrical tape right over that specific space on the display...
What about putting a "bulb condom" on the bulb to dim the light. If the blue is on the face of the display, you could stick a green condom on the bulb and the intensity will drop a LOT due to the double filter. (green and then blue). Or, if you'd like something different, but a red condom on the bulb and you should see a more purple light of lesser intensity.
