Default Bypass Computer

After driving 650 kms into the outback, my dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree with various warning and failure lights. Also transmission won’t shift out of 1st. Tried a TIPM reset, including leaving batt terminals connected overnight and including the ignition key reset sequence. No change. After limping to a dealer, they diagnosed a faulty ABS module also causing communications errors. Estimated 6 week delay for new part (from US) and around $1200, thank you. Question, can the ABS or computer be bypassed temporarily so that I can get my Jeep back home?

There should be a fuse you can pull that will allow you to bypass it. Check your fuse box for the ABS fuse.

I'll give it a go....thanks for the suggestion. However, even if this bypasses the ABS, won't the codes and faults remaining in the computer keep the Jeep in limp mode ?

I have a manual transmission so I cannot comment on the limp mode. I just know that we pulled a fuse many years ago on the trail and were able to get the ABS to quit activating the brakes after destroying a wheel speed sensor.
