You can use a "line output converter" that takes the signal from your factory speaker wire and converts it to an RCA output. But before you go that route you can check the amp you plan to use for "speaker level inputs". That takes the signal from your speaker wires and connects directly to the level inputs on the amp instead of using an extra piece of hardware like the line output converter.

You can also use a factory signal processor if you are willing to spend a bit more money that lets you tune the factory settings. It allows a flat equalization for the signal coming from the factory stereo and lets you adjust it with a 15 band equalizer. This might allow you to over come the factory rear soundbar equalization, thus making it louder. It also has six pre-amp outputs. It's called the "Rockford Fosgate 3sixty", but I think you need a bluetooth palm pilot to set it up and tune it. Or you can bring it to a stereo shop for them to set up.
Although I don't know how well it works, but it acts like an enhanced line output converter and I've read good things about it.

Most sub-and-amplifier enclosures offer the ability to connect to a speaker line input; the sub/amp I installed on my JK was wired into the front speaker outputs on the factory radio, and sounds good.

I paid $60 for my sub/amp (the SIR-PS1 from Sirius, which was $100 retail), and $50 to have it installed, and I'm happy. It's not as good a sound quality as my Cherokee, but I didn't spend $1000 on equipment & soundproofing either.

The Infinity Basslink II is a good solution, but for the best sound quality you'll want to replace the head unit & all the speakers too.

Does anybody know how to hook up the line output converter to the factory head unit?

I took my factory sub out and put in a line converter with my sub wires. Then I put a 10 in JL with an Alpine amp and it sounds awesome. Not too loud, but sounds real good.

As for your ?, its not hard at all. Where do you live? Clarksville, DE?
