Default Component speakers in soundbar???

Has anyone installed component speakers in their soundbar?

I know I'm going to have to drill holes for the tweeters, but I'm not sure where I'm going to put them. Any photos would be appreciated.

Thanks!

My components come in Thursday and I will be tackling this Saturday. I'll post pics- unless I have too many beers, get frustrated with something supposedly easy and quit.

I didnt even bother doing a component kit all I did was some tweeters that go in the factory tweeter mount on the dash and upgraded to kickers in the sound bar and it sounds awesome!!

Awesome. Let me know how it goes. Have you replaced the front speakers already? What speakers are you putting in?

Thanks, eight6! Looks really good!

Did you drill the holes for the tweeters or was that one of the open spaces that was already in the soundbar?

I drilled them with a small hole saw. Luckily, the hole was a perfect fit for the JL mounting ring. I also mounted the crossovers in the soundbar. It's not something you need to access every day, and if you need to, you just drop the larger speaker out to get to it. Makes the wiring much easier.

Here's the thing: Coaxial speakers have a better stereo image than component speakers, because all the sound comes from a single point.

Component speakers are great for the JK fronts because you would not hear the tweeters very well from a coax speaker mounted so low. In this case, hearing the tweeter trumps perfect imaging. (That's why Jeep gave us dash tweeters.) But in the sound bar, coax speakers will image better than components.

The only problem is you must do some careful shopping to find excellent tweeters in coax speakers, but they are available.

Coax's are easier to install in the soundbar anyway.

The stereo imaging thing is a non issue, whether from the front or soundbar speakers. In fact, the vastly improved clarity will if anything, enhance the stereo imaging. Coax's are an easier install though.

Did you put any sort of foam / vibration dampening material inside the bar?
