Default In-Dash CB

I'm replacing my stock 6 disc changer with an aftermarket player. There is enough room to do a nice, clean in-dash cb as well in the same hole as the old head unit. My questions though is there any way to secure the radio into the dash to prevent theft, or am I better off installing the cb in the center console/under arm rest storage area? I've never installed a stereo or anything the like before in a dash so I'm not sure how the bracketry works. Thanks -Jason

I know it's not a jeep but this is the same idea...I'm just worried about theft with the doors off.

You can def do that. Just get the Metra install kit to put it in. They have an install kit that comes with a double din, single din, and double single din adapters. You will use the double single din since you will have a single din radio and single din cb. Just make sure the CB you are using is standard din size like the one in the photo. You will be using plastic brackets screwed into plastic dash. Not much you can do about that. Your only real option for security is the Tuffy cover.

Oh BTW. I dunno how far back a single din CB goes, but if it is as far as a radio or you use the radio on top (I would) you are going to have to trim some of the plastic and metal in your dash. It will be the same material that is needed to be trimmed for a double din install so just look at a double din install thread to see what is needed. It isn't a big deal, and I know you don't mind a little hacking! How is your rear compartment project going?

Do you have the Part Number for the correct kit?

I think the Metra part number is 99-6511. I believe that is the multi-kit that gives single din, double din, and double single din install adapters. Of course double check that before you go spending money.

Ha ha crutch doesn't know everything and that is why you are a member of this forum. Share your pics of your install when you get it done.

BTW this is a jeep girl you're replying to.
