Default dead battery

i have stock 08 battery that went dead, i replaced it and it shows i am drawing 3 amps with everything unplugged in lighters and key in off position and out. all interior lights off. i have not added anything electrical or otherwise or modified anything. but my guess would be it should draw around 1.5 amp. has any one else run into this problem or have any suggestions.

thanks

That draw (3 amps) sounds awfully high. In fact 1.5 amps sounds awfully high as well. I think your draw with EVERYTHING off should be in the milliamp range like .03-.05 or 3-5 milliamps for things like the computer and radio memory. I assume you have an ammeter in series with the positive battery cable. If you do, start pulling (and re-inserting) fuses until you see one that reduces or eliminates the draw. Note what is on that fuse circuit and head in that direction. Be sure your underhood light and glovebox lights are going out (if you have them) Good luck

how long did you read that 3a for. Leave it for about 30mins or so and come back to it. Possibly the modules are awake from you messing with it and take time to go to sleep.
