The Droid X2 supports the bluetooth profile (at least it shows it in the spec sheet) MAP. This is "Message Access Profile" for texting and a newer profile that phones are just starting to support. The problem here is that the older phones and hands free systems supported SMS thru "AT" commands (a completely different way to send / receive messages). Uconnect (as well as others) have this profile supported on 2012 vehicles. I have recently heard that the Uconnect suppliers for the radios (RHB, RBZ, RES & REQ) will soon be working on an update that will also support MAP on 2011 vehicles. I am not sure when that update will be available yet but I will keep the forums updated on it (no pun intended).

I was able to get it to syn for phones calls just fine..but the sms not working is irritating.

By you saying 2012 vehicles are you saying 2012 stereos or 2012 Uconnect modules?

Any news on this update?
My Droid Incredible 2 does everything except text through Uconnect. It (in a womans voice) says "phone not supported for this service" when I try to text. ("send messages" is the command)

I have a 2011 with uconnect and satellite as well as the connectivity package and a DROID X2 running Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread)

The SMS notification works fine for me. The only issue I have is having the phone and radio connect every now and then...but I think thats an issue with my phone, not the car.

Interesting..i checked the version on mine and its the same as yours. Did you have to do anything special to get it to work?

Not that I can think of...I usually have Bluetooth turned off on my phone when I get in the car, so when I turn it on I sometimes have to go into settings-wireless settings-bluetooth to 'pair' it with UConnect. Then I usually just press the UConnect button to make sure the car notices the phone (it will say "Ready" or "Paired with DroidX2" over the car speakers).

Other than that, I cannot think of anything different/special I have to do

Maybe try re-pairing from scratch? I had to pair mine a second time for all the functionality to work

I did some digging and found this;
Droid Incredible 2;
Bluetooth Profiles: Bluetooth Headset, Hands free, SPP, A2DP, AVRCP, GAVDP, AVDTP, AVCTP, OPP (Vcard, Music, Album, Cal), PBAP, FTP (Server
Side only)

Droid X 2;
Bluetooth Profiles: Stereo Bluetooth Class 1.5, Version 2.1 + EDR (support profiles A2DP, AVRCP, GAP, GAVDP, GOEP, HFP, HID, HSP,MAP, OPP, PAN, PBAP, SPP)

I read somewhere that "MAP" is the profile that the 2011 Uconnect radios use for SMS message processing. If your phone doesn't have/use MAP, no SMS on the 2011's. I don't know about 2012's or previous years.

Ok, so based on your digging my X2 does support that feature so obviously there is something going on with my phone.
