Question ELECTRICAL Gremlins

OK I have a 2007 loaded 2 door Rubicon.

I have the alarm set to horn honk ONLY with NO headlights when the security system is set/locked with the key fob. Horn honk OFF and head lights ON to unlock. The seatbelt warning chime has been turned off too.

This is my freaky problem: Randomly when I unlock the Jeep ( it is set to unlock the drivers door only with the 1st unlock press of the keyfob) with my key fob some times the headlights do not come on,...and when this happens the alarm light stays lit solid red( no blinking ). When I press the unlock button again THEN the head lights come on?????? WTF!! Then if I want to unlock the passenger and back door I have to press the unlock button a 3rd time !!!!!!

Also, this other symptom has happend 4 or 5 times so far with the above symptom always associated with this one: The horn honks one time when I press the unlock button on the key fob!! THIS OPTION HAS BEEN DISABLED SINCE DAY 1 of owning this Jeep!

Any one have any gremlins also???????

Any fixes?

If you do not have any problems or fixes, then don't worry about it and eat some more popcorn.

Default Gremlins

I have a similar gremlin. I'm supposed to get a light flash only (no horn) with locking and unlocking. It works correctly 98% of the time. But when the horn beeps the other 2% of the time, it never fails to make me jump. For now, I've decided to live with it; it is the only (electrical) gremlin I've experienced and 1:50 odds is below my pain threshold.

Default confirmed Key FOB flakeyness

I too have also seen the occasional 'press FOB once - doors unlock - interior light comes on with no headlights'.
I figured it just felt cooperative that day, because that's what I really would like ti to do all the time. I figured it received a partial transmission of the unlock code, and recognized a portion. It usually seems to happen at 75+ feet or the edge of remote range.
Pressing the FOB again produces the 'All Unlock'.

I've had the same thing as joesephus, except the radio was on in addition to the interior lights. Once in a blue moon. Maybe the partial transmit makes sense.

My Power Lock Gremlins: My automatic door lock and unlock feature stopped working for1/2 a day. My “don’t honk” feature broke (it honked) for1/2 a day. Brought it to the dealer for another electrical problem that was repeatable. They fixed the repeatable problem and didn’t see anything wrong with the power lock system.

the first day I owned mine the headlights stayed on for a minute or 2 after I shut the jeep off and the light switch off.. i iked that.. now I cant get that to work no matter what.. really wish i could get the delay off back - wonder if there is some sensor input for perhaps auto Lights where the voltage floats up and down that is causing this, making the PCM think its day or night inaccurately since we dont have the sensor..) so that sometimes the lights come on when you hit the fob (on cars equipped with auto lights.. sebring, durango, etc the headlights only come on at night when you unlock with the fob not during the day) .

thats how mine worked the FIRST day i got it and not since.. ive tried all kinds of combinations and cant nail it...

I have tried:

unlock with Fob - auto locks lock the doors turn jeep off and remove key then turn lights off

above except never locked the jeep

unlock with fob drive, turn jeep off, open door then turn lights off

and many other combinations and I just cant get that Off delay anymore and the dealer claims it never shouldve worked in the first place so they dont think there is anything to fix... alas why part of me wonders if there is an open input on the PCM floating..
