Default Head scratcher...sway bar light, won't shift..fixed, but now U04104

2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.

Initially was having an issue where the sway bar light would randomly come on, and the Jeep would not shift out of whatever gear it was in, could not shift manually either. Nor could I turn the sway bar "off" right away. I would have to slow down or pull over to get it to respond. Sometimes that didn't happen. It would also 'slam' into gear from park while this was happening, reverse and drive.

Read about the electronic sway bar, and possible corrosion, interference with the CAN bus. So I disconnected the sway bar, and used my AEV procal to turn the dash light off. At this point I had never got any check engine lights or codes.

I read that this would be the solution to my issue as several people have encountered this.

However since doing this, now I'm still experiencing the same thing, where occasionally the Jeep will not shift out of the gear that it's in, up or down. It's not limp mode, it just won't respond. Most often happens while I'm in first. And NOW I'm getting the u0414 code.

I read that most likely it is the transfer case switch... But I wanted to get some input from you all before I start digging into the jeep....

Replaced that transfer case switch. All is well now. No more being stuck in a gear intermittently and no more U0414 code

Good deal.

Apologies I was late seeing this. I recently replaced my transmission (along with some other things) and ran into the same issue on my '12 Rubi. That switch on the transfer case does trip the sway bar indicator.

I did not run into the shifting issue, but my Jeep has the 6 speed manual.

Glad you got it sorted out.
