Default Hella Black Magic or KC Hilites?

Opinions? Pros/cons of both?

How big are the Hella BM driving lights?

I have the Hella 1000s and PIAA 540s, I like the Hellas but compared to my PIAAs they just didn't seem that well built. I'm assuming the KCs are a lot Ike the PIAAs in that they are solidly built and sealed. The Hellas require a lot more assembly than the PiAAs and just didn't seem very well sealed fro the elements. I like my Hellas but I don't see them lasting anywhere as long as my PIAAs.

As you can see I am particular to the KC's.
-Look good
-Price
-Availability of replacement parts
-Bright
-Built to last
-Well sealed
-Variety in sizes and beams

I have had 4 KC's day lighters for 3 years now and they always work. I have played with the hell 500 free flows or something like that. I get them from wal mart for like $60. The housings were plastic and they are not as bright. They are way better than the factory headlights, though. They only had 55 watt bulbs.

4 daylights. 2 are flood and 2 are driving..

I have both hella black magic 500 & 1000's IMHO the hellas are great driving lights day the look great and at night the great for street use they both are DOT approved with that said.....they suck offroad...... for the cash I spent I could have gone a different route they say driving lights that's what they mean they are not very bright and correct they are not very sealed mud and water in the lenses first time out now have mud stains on the inside. But if you ask me for a mall krawler great but offroad and usefulness go with something else like I said just my opinion

I have to say that I have had all three brands of lights Piaa, Hella, and KC's and each of them have given me problems, let start with he Piaa they have had heir very nice pre wired harnesses corode and fall apart, their very nice reflectors peel completely of from the inside. Althought they are and all aluminum housing they have lacked in he wiring dept, last but not least they are 2x more expensive than the next 2 light manufacturers I am going to talk about next. One positive note i must include is their customer service is great, thwy replaced all of thw lights and light bulbs that went bad completely without question. Hella may not be the brightest bulb on the block (depending which model you get) until you invest a little in a better bulb. They have fogging issues, and the Black Magic I don't think are worth the look because the moment you get a fog in there you are done with the blackness. Their method of trying to fix it is to swish around alcohol inside and that will take it away (bullshit) yeah mole it didn't. Left many messages for their customer service dept.and they never responded back again. KC's have the least of my usage but they had the brightest light but the lights always rusted out. That was my last usage of them when they all fell apart wiring and housings. Good luck.

I bought the KC 130w slimlitestwo years ago. The switch has burned out once, and one of the lights has rusted from the inside reflector out. Done with KCs. Look at Lightforce brand.
