Default Hella Light Cover

Hello,

I live in Maryland and it is against the law to drive on any public road with driving lights uncovered. I have a pair of Hella 500 Driving Lights installed. I was wondering if there was anything out there that would give the appearance that the lights are covered while still being able to use the lights. I have seen the clear Hella covers but unfortunatley these will not pass Maryland law. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Well then to avoid a ticket I would suggest using the covers that came with the Hellas..

take the clear covers and put a light coat of black on them like people use to tint their lights. i think it comes in a spray can.

Illegal here in Quebec, but I have never heard about a Jeeper having a ticket.
I have my covers in the Jeep, but I never put them

Different coatings will work under different conditions.

In bright daylight many UV protection films will look like an opaque mirror, but as outside diminishes it will just look like a tint.

Maybe one of the old perforated films that was popular on rear windows back in the 80's or was it the 70's or ... They had a tint and some panoramic image imprinted on it. The viewing angle more important than the lighting with those window films.

And I thought CA had the worse Department of Motor Vehicles.

Make sure your tinted clear covers can withstand the heat of the lights. One of the guys here burned a hole in each of his Lightforce lights because they accidentally got switched on. I'm guessing that the covers and lenses all melted due to the heat. Making the clear covers darker might trap more heat in the lights. I have no experience in this other than seeing what happened to the Lightforce lamps.
