Default HID Conversion Issues

Hey all, I swapped out the factory fogs and headlights for an HID kit and nothing seems to be working right. After the first install only my highbeams would work and my low beams would turn off after a couple of minutes of driving. So we swapped out the ballasts and whole relay and now my lowbeams only come on when i turn what should be my "highbeams" on, and they work fine, but when i turn what should be my "lowbeams" on the highbeams come on and just flicker like crazy. The fogs seem to work fine, but now I cant use them with my lowbeams since the jeep thinks its actually my highbeams that are on!!!! My buddies and myself are stumped....does anyone have any ideas what could be going on? i dont see how this can be so complicated, it should be plug and play.

1) Did you hook up the system through a relay, or power them directly off the factory wiring?

2) Did you get the capacitor module units to go between the factory and HID wiring, or not?

I'd hazard a guess that both answers may be no.

If they work correctly with the engine off, 99% sure it's the Canbus messing with you and you will have to buy or build isolators. If they won't work correctly with the engine off, I suspect you have another problem.

I have a set on my Rubi from DDM and they have been super helpful in tech support. I still have a few bugs to work out with the high beams but thats it. They did mention another component that plugged into the line that should help with my issue, perhaps it will work for you also? Just a thought

the problem is that you have regular ballasts. Dont mess with the warning canceller kits or capacitor wiring harness kits etc. IMHO your much better off just buying a kit that has CANBUS ballasts. All the warning canceller/capacitor crap is all built into the ballast much less wiring, less splicing, less potential headaches and the canbus ballasts cost the same amount as the regular ones. I picked up my kit local for like 80 bucks been running em for like 8 months no problems. I'm actually prolly gonna pull em out in the next month or so an go with a gwagon projector set up
good luck

Almost none of the budget kits that I've seen will actually plug directly into the factory harness. I made my own "connector" to plug into the factory headlight plugs and ran my relay, power, grounds, etc.

Though the conversion HID bulbs should fit perfectly into the headlight housings in place of the stock bulbs. If they don't you got the wrong kit.
