I'm having some trouble wiring up these lights...I don't have a wiring diagram for the JK so I'm trying to "wing it".....The JK has two wires on either side for each fog light(left hand side has red/white&black and the right side has yellow/white&black) From previous threads I've read,I know that the multi-colored wires are the positives with the blacks being the negatives...I hooked up the wiring this way and the lights flashed a couple of times and then went out...can't seem to figure out what the problem is AND AM ALL OUT OF IDEAS!!!
I should have mentioned from the start that I am using the stock fog wiring for these lights as a replcement for the old lights as I would like to be able to use the steering wheel stalk to turn them on and off...I know it can be done...PLEASE HELP...at my wits end....Thanks in advance

I don't know, but it sounds to me like the new lights are drawing to many amps, and are faulting the system out.
Were it me, I'd use a relay, using the stock wiring as the control ckt. to the coil of the relay. I'd run new wiring from the battery throughan inline fuse to the contacts of the relay, then to the lights. This way the stalk switch woud energize the coil of the relay, using minimal current. The battery would provide power to the fogs, through the contacts of the relay, and there should be no problems, providing you use the proper gage wiring and the proper size fuse. You could either get a relay with two sets of contacts running one set of wire to the contact and at the contacts, jumper the input to the other contact, and from there run two sets of wires, one set to each of the lights, or simply use one set of the contacts and wire to one light, then daisy chain to the other light.

The hid lights may be 50 watt which could be causing the canbus system to think there's a problem since there's more wattage than the stock 42 watts. I used 35 watt hid bulbs in mine and have had no problems.
Here is my install thread with a pair of 4" HIDx lights tapped into the OEM fog wiring....https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/smittybilt-xrc-front-bumper-install-w-hid-lights-78848/
