Couldn't you just complete the circuit at the end that disconnects from the hardtop? You could probably find the wiring schematic in the service manual, then rig up some kind of "dummy" connection for the end to complete the circuit and make it think it's plugged in to the hardtop.

That's what I think would work but does anyone have a service manual? Does it have the wireing diagram? And better yet can you perhaps scan it in and send it to me?
