Default Improving Factory sub acoutics

has anyone built an enclosure for the infinity factory subwoofer that has made a difference in the sound? Also, is it possible to add additional subwoofers and an after market amp, while keeping the factory subwoofer functional? Lastly, I had an after market amp installed and the bass was "clipping" or cutting out after the volume was turned up. Any idea what this was all about? I am thinking the installer did not connect something correctly.

Remove subwoofer and stuff the enclosure with polyfill. There is none in the enclosure.

What I did was cut and splice into the sub wires going into the infinity amp and hooked a line out converter to that. I've removed the factory sub anyways but i can still use the factory sub output.

Ok that makes sense thanks. Bypassing the amp but still using the low frequency output. How do you know which wires lead to the bass frequency? What LOC do you recommend? I was looking at the audiocontrol systems

Anyone had any luck using the factory enclosure and just replacing the sub and powering with aftermarket amp?

I have seen on some other posts, people have replaced the factory sub with a kicker speaker

I did that by installing a Kicker 8" powered by a 5 channel MTX Jackhammer.
Slight improvement over stock but the enclosure sucks and all you're doing is polishing a turd.
I eventually did this and could not be happier -

My buddy is a sound engineer and he adjusted my audio for me;
He put the fade to the rear @ level 5,
treble @ 5, bass @ 4, mid @ 0-1

I think it sounds great, hits hard enough to shake all 3 mirrors....

Here's what I did on my 2012 Sahara
Replaced the Sub with a Kicker 8-inch unit - dual voice coil - stuffed the cavity with batting - Crutchfield = $80;
Installed a Polk Audio amp (200 watt, I think) - just to drive the sub - Put it in the well in the back - Speaker-level inputs - it has voltage sensing feature (no remote wire needed). - Brandsmart USA = $120

The most difficult part of this was running a new power wire from the Fuse block to the Amp.

This produces a much better bass profile.
