Question Infinity Kappa speaker question...

Has anyone installed Infinity Kappa 60.9cs component speakers in the dash? I got
a smokin' deal on a pair. I just talked to a guy at Crutchfield to ask about which
harness I would need, and he told me these speakers won't fit in the speaker box.
Is this true? I also have a pair of Kappa 62.9i speakers for the sound bar. He told
me the cover will come in conact with the tweeter. I'm hoping he is mistaken on both counts.
Thanks in advance for any input.

I'll have to look and see exactly what size my installer put in my JK they are Infinity Kappa's and they sound sweet, he replaced the tweets in the tombstones with the kappas, also the boxes in the front dash he stuffed some acoustastuff in it the low end sounds alot better now. I do know he had problems with the built in tweets on the sound bar with the factory cover hitting, it is pushed down very slightly, but not noticeable, powered them with a Fosgate amp 45x4.

I have both sets of speakers in my jeep now.

First, the components do work no problem what so ever. It looks like you have the newest kappas in which case the tweeters won't fit 9at least mine didn't, they were more cylindrical than the older dome shape). The woofers are great, I just swapped my new tweeters out for a set of the last model version on ebay, they fit with no modification.

Second, the sound bar speakers do make contact with the stock grilles but only a little and the tweeter has sort of a grille over it so it doesn't affect its performance. I opted not go with the kappa grilles on those since they left a lot exposed when installed (more so the area around the speaker where the stock grille went).

I noticed a definite difference in clarity and quality with the speakers. i have yet to add a separate amp to them, but planning on running about 40-50 watts per speaker. Good luck, let me know if you have any further questions .

Oh and no special harness is needed to instal them. I did have to just cut and splice the wires for the connections but that is very simple obviously.

1. Do you have the Infinity system?
2. Did you use factory wiring?

I would use the crossovers because if I'm not mistaken the crossovers for the stock tweeters are incorporated in the tweeter itself so when u take it out to replace it there would not be a crossover remaining. Other than that, just wire up as is.
