Default Cargo Sub options

I posted a thread about the MOPAR 77Kick24 a while back, I just can't locate it at the moment. It included the text installation procedures. At that time the price was $600 list.

I have a JLaudio 8W3V2 with an e1200. I will be installing this first thing when I get the Jeep. I just hope the mounting depth is not a problem.

Someone mentioned they mounted an 8w1v2 into the enclosure and that has a 3.85 mounting depth. My sub is 4.31 mount depth. That is a half inch diff. If it clears this will be one bad mamma jamma.

Default JL Audio 8W3V2

The JL Audio 8W3V2 sub is too deep for the stock box. I went to Home Depot and bought 2 plant trays made of cork w/ a hardboard backing 10" round. I cut spacers and the 8W3V2 sounds sweet! It took a little weatherstripping also to seal the box tight enough.

Then I ran 2 new wires from the bridged output of the amp under the carpet back to the JL Audio sub. I unbolted the sub box and drilled a hole in the very bottom for the new wires to enter w/o being seen. I taped up the factory sub wires inside the box as they are not used now. My particular setup uses a Kenwood KAC-6202 amp-200 watts bridged, and a JL Audio 8W1v2-8 subwoofer. Don't get me wrong , this is not a competition type setup , but with the amp adjustments , I find that it blends in seamlessly w/ the rest of the stereo system. Oh yes , you can feel it and I would never go back to the stock setup. Absolutely no comparison.
this could be a dumb question but.. why can't you hook up the amp to the cables back there for the sub, aren't these cables the same as the ones u taped into. I was also thinking about doing this same set up.
I'm a sub noob.

You probably wont get enough power to the subwoofers. The woofer jeep has in there is low power.

As for the remounting the subs in the factory enclosure, does anybody know the volume of the factory box? The right box can mean the difference between and "eh" woofer... and WOW woofers..

Default Sub hookup

No , if you are adding an aftermarket amp you cannot hook into the sub wires in back because they are amplified there. I tapped in under the dash , Before the wires are amplified by the stock amp. The 8" JL Audio subs both are perfect as far as enclosure size. The exact stock size is somewhere on the forum, but it is very near the .375 cubic ft recommended for the JL Audio subs that I have used.

Is there any subwoofer out there that will work in the factory enclosure and has a power rating of 200 + watts RMS????

I think I'm going to go the upgrade the factory sub route. I just want to put the most powerful sub available in the allocated space.

Depending on the amplifiers high input section you can run upto several volts (watts) and just run the gain lower on the amp to curb the distortion but you need to be sure your high inputs on your new amplifier can handle the power.

The stock amp is not all that powerful so I would not be real concerned honestly. If you are you could use one of these instead of frying your amps input section.

Anyone carrying car audio will have these and they are cheap.

This doesn't sound like a good idea at all....
