Default IPF920H4 Question

I've had the IPF 920 H4's for about 6 months now. The first 3 months they were great, I loved them. Now, I am really starting to hate them.

Both the driver side and passenger lights go out intermittently. I have taken off the grill on multiple occasions cleaned, re-seated everything and used zip ties galour and they will still flicker on and off. If I "giggle" the harness they will come back on, but by the time I get home at least one of them is out.

So my question is, can I cut off the connector on the IPF harness wire it up with a slide connector and then T-tap into my stock wiring harness without cutting off the stock adapter? And maybe run some electrical tape or something over the stock adapter so I don't get any water into it or anything?

I really really really don't want to go back to my stock headlights.

Hmmm, maybe I need to do it by trial.

I had the same problem about 2 months ago. Mine kept going out - then I would take the whole thing apart, hold the wiring together, and then they'd *suddenly* come back on. Came to the conclusion that it was the harness connectors themselves that were loose, so I just cut them both off and "hard-wired" the wires together.

...haven't had a problem since.

Good to know. I will probably cut them but leave enough room to reattach the stock harness.

Good read, as I almost ordered these today. Dave at Northridge 4X4 told me they were on backorder for a few days so I planned on buying them next week until I read this thread...

So is it the harness that comes with the lights the issue? Has anyone spoke with the manuf. to see if this is a known issue?

I've had these for a year and I don't have any issues.

Same shit with the harnesses with them going out intermittently got sick of removing the grill all the time. Found any hard bumps and the lights would go out. I found the IPF harness attaching to the stock harness was the issue..... very touchy. I just finally snipped the stock harness and hardwired the IPF headlights. No issues for 2 months. Figured I will never add the Stock lights back regardless if I do sell it down the road.

Cut mine a few weeks ago and not an issue since then. Some people have good luck with the harnesses and some don't.

I'm curious if anyone has contacted the manufacturer to see what their take is on things.
