Default JKU non Infinty question on replacing speakers

OK I am installing a new head unit and speakers. The new component speakers for up front (polk 6500's) have a crossover. From what I can tell the 6.5 lower speakers get fed full sound when stock and the tweeters have a built in small resister to filter out the lows. Should I just install the crossover on the wires feeding the lower and run new wires to my tweeter from the crossover?

Thanks

Hi! I have this same setup about to go into my jeep. Can you take some pics of the install?

X2. Make sure you mount the crossovers in a place they will stay dry.
