I do think the problem is the tightness of the grey... I mess with those wires and it comes on and off/ right speakers play, no left. Blahhhhh

I can't push this thing together any tighter. All my force into it and it won't budge

Sounds to me like squashed pins at one of the grey connectors. My right speakers didn't work because a single pin didn't make it into the plug and got squashed. I straightened it and was more careful connecting them and everything worked well. The CHR550 plug is a close copy, but not perfectly matched with everything lined up absolutely perfectly. a squashed pin or two would also keep it from snapping together tight.

If that's it, you will want to be be really gentle straightening it as a broken pin would be just as bad...

Sorry... Dropped offline for a while. Not sure what you mean here. Which accessory are you not getting the view video button for? I get a view video button off the TV tab in only select cases (e.g., when I've selected the front or rear camera, or when I'm in one of the iPod modes. I don't have any other items that would present a view video option off of the TV tab menu. The built in DVD plays from a different menu... From the media button if I recall correctly.

My recollection is that there are two iPod modes... (a) iPod out mode and (b)iPod manual mode. You need to select one of these from the TV tab menu (can call up the options by hitting the "list" button at the bottom of the fist screen on the TV tab. For me, those two options are on the second page of scrolling. The iPod out mode lets you control the ipod with the steering wheel buttons, etc. (don't know if this requires the 2011. It makes use of the 2011 steering wheel buttons but you might be able to get the same functionality with the touch screen in an early year?), the iPod manual mode keeps the control of the iPod with the iPod (probably the best one to do the first experiments with). You'll need to select that mode from the TV tab's list of choices. Once the iPod Manual mode is selected, that should give you the view screen button at the bottom right of the screen and pressing that should show you what is on the screen of your iPod. Don't know if that helps...

I got it!! So somehow in all my struggle to hide the brain I had flipped/unflipped the appropriate dip switches. Now it works like a charm. With the small exception of no steering wheel controls on the 2010 sahara thus I can't use the iPod out function, only iPod manual.

I dont know if i really like this thing... I cant use the ipod out mode without the steeringwheel controls and i dont have those on 10 sahara... I feel like all it did for me was allow a back up cam(which i have not installed) and allow video in motion... But when plugged in the iphone it doesnt even allow multitasking. (like i cant start the pandora music then go to another app or the music turns off...).

I have a 2008 MyGig RER. It doesn't allow control of an iPod from the face unit. You have to use the AUX plug and control functions from the iPod itself.

Does the CHR550 allow you to control the iPod from the headunit? No steering wheel buttons here either.

Thanks.
