Headed to the store now to find some heat shrink style connectors and I plan to add a little wire and extend the factory connectors enough to go under the cowl. Thanks for the input as I was starting to think I had received some factory defect lights but now see this is normal.
Yea I ran into the same issue. I just took a rubber bicycle tube and covered the connector and zip tied both ends.

Well my OCD side simply could not stand those huge plug in connectors being on the outside and I also cut and spliced in some extra length. I am still using the factory plugs however now have enough slack to tuck them under the cowl.

I used good quality heat shrink butt splices and took my time so hopefully they will work fine. Still trying to finish the install and work out where to mount this relay and also getting through the firewall to interior switch. Maybe tonight I will have them going and thanks again for all the help with this.

I got it finally.....install went smooth and the old coat hanger trick worked perfect for the firewall. The hardest part was drilling that big hole in my dash for the switch. That was more of a mental thing as my Jeep is still new with under 8k miles and I hated the idea of messing up my new interior.

I ran the yellow and white wire to the battery directly and grounded the black to the frame where the relay bolted up. The lights will power on solo as I did not want to splice into my high beams or ignition.

Just a question as I know little of electronics..... How safe is this set up? I see the harness has a fuse on the yellow power wire and also the extra white wire with both these direct to the battery. I park inside my garage nightly and was wondering if this type set up has ever been known to have any possible problems?

The set up and install seemed pretty simply with only a few connections. I would hate to have messed up something and wake up to a fire ball in my garage. Will both fuses pretty much protect this system if something shorted?

You just want to tape up that relay and you should be fine.

One thing I always do with wires I connect to the battery is keep the wire running from the battery to the fuse as short as possible. Just something I do so that if something were to happen and the wire rub through on to something it will most likely be past the fusing causing it to blow the fuse and not fry something.
