Kicker Upgrade???
Oddly, I got distracted (squirrel!) over the weekend and started reading up on audio; I'm purely an amateur, so I'll just relay what I read. There's a thread on another forum that outlines a significant sound upgrade by performing a $2.00 20 minute fix for the tweeters (soldering in a capacitor), adding poly-fil to the soundbar, upgrading the soundbar speakers (Infinity or Kicker), and replacing the subwoofer (Pioneer) all for ~$160 total. Plug n play, too. The OP took measurements to figure out inexpensive solutions compatible with the OEM head unit. Everyone who did the mods had very positive feedback. I ordered all the parts yesterday. I'm not expecting miracles or audiophile sound, but if I get a significant improvement and keep the OEM controls, it'll be $160 well spent.
Thanks

Like I said, I'm an amateur and following others recommendations. Thanks for the advice; if the Pioneer isn't good enough, I'll give the Rockford a try and perform a home sound off. Would I need the 2 or 4 ohm model?
I'm pretty sure it's 2 ohm otherwise what you can always do is buy the 4 ohm, test it and see how it sounds, and if it sounds like it's not getting enough bump, you could always run a 4 ohm resistor in parallel to bring it down to 2 ohms.
Yes correct, dual voice coil two ohm. You actually have two sets of speaker wires for your factory sub so one will go to each coil on the RF sub.
I had previously replaced the sound bar speakers with the Kicker upgrade. It improved the sound pretty well but still seemed underwhelmed. Just recently noted that the speakers have improved over time (break in). I replaced the fronts this weekend and even more improvement but will be anxiously awaiting the break in on the fronts as well.
I am completely stereo illiterate. What do you mean by they moved to components in 2015? Is that something to do with the speaker itself? Because Im pretty sure my 2015 speakers are still one of the ones that look like it was made out of a Cheerios box. Basic radio, and head unit. Nothing special.

If you did it right, from 2007-2014 you would buy a set of 6 1/2" component speakers for the front and a pair if 6 1/2" coax speakers for the back
New in 2015, you buy two sets of 6 1/2" component speakers.
The kicker replacement speakers are coax so they have no place in a 2015 (if you are doing it right). There are many component speakers available in a budget price range. Many people just buy the Polk DB6501 components without ever hearing them and are happy with the results.
Part of the fun of car audio is auditioning speakers and choosing the ones that sound best to you. Go to a stereo store and listen, then decide what you want to put in your Jeep.
