Default Mopar drop ins vs aftermarket

Hello all. Just purchased a new JK 2 door and I am less than impressed with the factory audio. I have seen a lot of threads regarding the Mopar Kicker drop ins and am wondering how they stack up with similarily prices after market speakers.
Thanks!

They'll be fine compared to any other speaker. Though you are not going to hear much of a difference. If you have a factory amp and sub you may pick up a little clarity and sound improvement. If you don't have the factory amp, forget about it. Then there is poly fill. I like may others was incredibly disappointed when i got into my 2013 JKU with the 'premium 368 watt' stereo and heard that $1700 blah-fest. My head unit was replaced under warranty about a year in due to problems with nav locking up and then 1.5 years into the second 730 unit did the same. That was enough for me. I purchased an aftermarket apline unit on crutchfield, and 4 kicker 6.5 (300 watt) polyfilled the sub (1lb), sound bar (12oz) and front (6 oz) and ported the front boxes. Now it sounds how it should have to begin with. I can legitimately hear the radio on the highway with the doors off. like i said, any speaker will be an improvement, and any 6.5 will fit. but without the amp and/or some ply fill you are going to be dissappointed. as far a speaker brands, 6 one half the dozen, are kickers good, polk? inifnity? harmon kardon? boston acoustic? yes, they all can be, the problem lies again in the factory head unit. without the ability to dial in the sound with a channeled eq, you'll never really be able to dial in the profile of the respective speaker.

Thanks for your reply. I was definitely planning on stuffing the sound bar and speaker pods with polyfil. I will eventually replace the headunit but it's currently not in the cards yet. I also do not have a sub and will likely not install one due to the limited space of the two door.
