Default My Gig DVD Question

I don't know if anyone will know the answer to this or not but here goes. I am in the process of working out a deal on an '11 JK 4 door and trading in my '09 Dodge Ram 1500. My Ram came from the factory with a regular radio and I purchased from the dealer a My Gig DVD and had the dealer install the radio. I want to take the My Gig DVD out of the truck and put it in the JK if the deal works out. The dealer said that he thought there was some type of year programmed into the radio where since it was in my 09 Ram, it wouldn't work in a 2011 Jeep. Does anyone know if this is true or if it is BS. Thanks

It should work. The only thing you will need to do is to make sure that the MyGig you have is a "High Speed" Can version. They make 2 flavors of MyGigs....One is a LOW speed Can, and the other is a HIGH Speed Can. This refers to the communication bus in the vehicle. If your current Dodge Ram has a High Speed can bus, then you can remove the MyGig from that vehicle and put it into a JK, which is also a High Speed Can vehicle.

Other than that, it sounds like the dealer is telling you some B.S. because they don't know what they're talking about.

The MYGIG from an '09 RAM 1500 should be a high speed bus, so it should plug right into a JK and work just fine. That being said, you might want to jump over to

ht tp://wkjeeps.com/MyGIG_parts.htm#PARTS (delete the space between the t's)

and double check the part number on the MYGIG in your RAM.
