Yea, but the real question is, can you Jeep get up to 88mph?

I have no idea why....but at least they said it is perfectly normal.
The 7-Pin connector includes a pin for controlling electronic trailer brakes. This requires a controller in the Jeep that monitors the brake pedal position and sends varying voltage to the electric brakes on the trailer. This brake controller would be connected to the blue wire.

God you guys are all wrong!

The blue wire is installed in Jeeps because MacGuyver drives Jeeps! Well, any time he comes up against a bomb thats wired funny whats the one thing that difuses the whole darn thing? THE BLUE WIRE! So during the Jeep redesign in 2006 they decided that since Jeeps guys and gals are totally likely to come into contact with a bomb, if its not MacGuyver himself, that they would provide this blue wire for us to cut and hence save the day!

Obviously your Jeep encountered a bomb at the Dealer and they cut the wire to save the day. You need a new blue wire to replace that one so you can be covered in the event of an emergency.

Hmmm.... did I forget to take my medication this morning?

Blue dog. That really looks like the 7 pin towing harness. Including the blue wire being exposed. See the heat sheilding in your first picture? Check along the muffler area against the rear crossmember. There is probably some more of the foil wrapped wiring running across the back of your jeep, running up to your drivers side tail light. Did you buy off a lot? If so, maybe they had a deal fall through that included tow package upgrade & they just removed the (more) visible parts. I would pull the drivers side tail light & peek in the hole. See if the 7 pin connector is stuffed in the cavity.

Default mystery wire

I am a trim repair man in another Chrysler factory and have done wire repairs on the fly. I don't know about Jeep wires but the ones we use have many wires not used in every model. My guess would be a wire got trapped when something was secured under the dash and the connector that used to be on the end was sacraficed. It shouldn't effect any thing or your Jeep wouldn't have past the Huntsville (electrical testing) before leaving the plant. That would be my guess from my experiences.

Did any of you guy's have the dealer install your 7 pin plug and harness ? If so what was the charge for labor ?

I have the trailer tow package on my Sahara but need to go from the 4 pin to the 7 pin plug for my trailer.

I think the mystery is shoved it would make sense that the wire would go to the brake control if I had one but sense I don't my dealer just tape the wire up.
Although I do like the MacGuyver theory

I just put it in the plastic covering along with my Windshield light wires now you can't see it. Thanks once again for solving the Jeep mystery
