Default Mystery wire!!!

While I was running the wires and hooking up my windshield mounted lights I found a wire that may be factory or may be something the dealer did before I bought it and was going to put something there.
This wire on one end hooks into one of the jeep wiring harness (I not sure which one)

It runs along the back (BLUE WIRE) just bare wire no covering over it like the other factory wires. The Yellow wire is for my lights that I am running.

and then it comes in where I ran my wires for the lights. It was ball up and stuff under the plastic and the end of the wire is taped up and this what makes me think it was done by someone other then the factory

Dose anybody have any idea what this wire is for ???????

No, I don't have the tow package. Why would the wire come inside then go no where? most wires for the towing go to the harness in the back of the jeep for lights (Right?).

That is definitely not factory.
The tow package comes from the factory, and is not even noticeable that it is wired, except for the plug under the bumper.

That wire is someones doing before you got the Jeep, dealer?

Where does it wind up on the inside? What stereo do you have in your Jeep?

One thing I was thinking when they switched my hitch and 7-prong adapter from my 07'-08', this blue wire could be a wire for a brake controller inside.
The blue wire comes in at the drivers side through the hole where the clutch cable would go if it was a manual. Nothing is attached to the wire inside. The end is just tape up for later use.

This is correct... I also have the 7-Pin trailer connector and a blue wire just tucked up under the drivers side dash. As far as I'm aware this is not a factory option, so it would have been done either by the dealer or someone else after your vehicle left the factory.

It would be hard to miss the 7-Pin connector on the back of your rig -- it looks like this:

I can't imagine any reason to install the kit then cut off or hide the connector out of sight.

Default blue wire

I too ran into the mysterious blue wire under the dash. I thought that I had broken something so I went to the dealer and asked them. I got the trailer hitch reciever and wiring harness installed after the fact and they said that somehow it is an extra wire that goes with it. I have no idea why....but at least they said it is perfectly normal.
